POST 9

Hi everyone!

Today I will talk about some changes that could be made in my career, Geography. So, I think geography has many challenges. First, I think, geography needs more field visits, because geographers study the environment and human relationship with it, so, it’s very important that they can see the reality and its problems in situ.

About the program of study, I think this is so good but it’s more demanding than the previous program. This is bad and good. It’s bad because the new students aren’t prepared for the high demand level of university. And, it’s good because it’s more complete and tidy with the courses.

About the faculty facilities, the best of FAU for a geographer are the computers. YES! Because we need do many works in the ArcGis (it’s a geography information system), and for this you need a fast computer. Fau has them.

Teaching methods. Mm. we have different kinds of teachers, some very good and others not. Hahaha. But, in general old teachers are very intelligent but sometimes they forget that we are learning, we don’t know everthing, so they need more patience whit us.  SO, I think many people are anxious for a mark, but not for their learning process. I think the most important is to learn, and the education has to go this way. For this, It’s important to have feedback for your work every time you do it, because you need learn about your mistakes. If you never see the mistakes, you can never change and learn.

Camping

Hi everyone!

today I will talk about my camping experience.

So, I love traveling and I have many camping stories. Today I will talk about when I was in Villa Tunari, Bolivia, in February of 2015.

Villa Tunari is a tropical weather zone, it's really warm but in the summer, the bolivian winter occurs and this produces rain.

Villa Tunari is a beuatiful place, it has a national park and a long and braided river. When I was there, I went to the river with some friends to practice "flotting". Flotting is a sport created by us. We got in and let us float in the river and let it take us down the river current. It was amazing and free. Flotting was similar to the sport in the image but without the tools.

A day, we were invited a pool party in a neighbor camping . That day was rainning but so peacefully. So when we were in a pool party, the rain started so hard and we had to run to the camping for check our things and tents.

When we arrived to the camping, our tent was broken and we had to sleep there. The comic part  about this story was the weather was always warm!!! and we were very wet but we did't have cold.

So, the next day, We had to dry all our things and we decided to move to another city, because we had been there for one week.

Postgraduate studies

Hi everyone! Today I will write about my future and the things that I would like to make when I finish my Geography studies.

First, I want to make a Master in the Universidad de Chile maybe in Sociology, or Social Work, I don’t know, I have a lot of time to make a decision, so today I have other preoccupations hahaha!

I really like the Social Science so I would like continue this line. Studying here, in FAU, we have the opportunity to make a Master when we finish the career, but I don´t really know if I would like to continue in the area of geograpfhy they offer.

 

By the other way, I wolud like to study a Master in the physical side of Geography, especially in Soil Sciences or Geomorphology but in Universidad Austral, because i'm from Valdivia and I wolud love to go back to my lands and studying them with dedication. And living again with my mother and sister woulde be great.

I don't know if before or after the master I would like to study English in other country, could be USA or Malta, but it is one of my intensions.  

It colud be great to have the oportunity of getting a doctor's degree after studying english and getting a master, but I have lot of time for thinking about that!

A country I'd like to visit"

Hello everyone! Today I'm going to write  about a place in the entire world that I would  like to visit someday.                          

The place that I have choose is Rurrenabaque,  a little town in the middle of the Amazonian  jungle of Bolivia. I would like to visit it because it is very green and natural place, very far of the city, technology and the stress of the city and all the problems in there. People from Rurrenabaque do not have to buy food and grocery because the produce everything from them own consume and work the lands respecting it, without exploiting it. People is friendly and the Bolivian money is so low to the Chilean exchange, so you can travel with a very low quantity of money and do not have any problem. But the best of this place is the opportunity you have to explore the jungle and know all the wealth of nature.

I think I would like to travel with my sisters or with friends, with young people willing to explore!

Movies or series I Like

Hello dear classmates and readers, today I going to tell you about the movies and series I like the most.

I don´t really like one kind or topic of movies, I like lot of movies. But I admit that ones I enjoy the most are the classics ones, kind of mysterious, with some suspense, deepness, action humorous and with good soundtracks too. Those from the 70’s- 90’s by Stanley Kubrick, Quentin Tarantino, John G. Avildsen and others.

The first movie that came to my mind when I started thinking about this topic was “Rocky V”, so I’ll talk you about it. Well, first I liked because the soundtrack it’s so good, it makes me feel with hope and feel like to do a lot of sport and physical activity.

The story is about the same Rocky from the previous films, but now ruined and retired from boxing, he returns to his neighbourhood retired Rocky of boxing. And in the same place he meets a young man with boxing skills and Rocky decides to train him.

It has a great ending, I recommend everybody to see it if you have the opportunity, because It is always good to enjoy good cinema

 

By the other way, I like a lot watching actual series, like Breaking Bad, Walking Dead, Modern Family, Narcos, How I met your mother, Game Of Thrones or Vikings. Actually I’m watching one called “Disjointed” by Netflix, it treats about an old women from California, US  who is the owner of a shop of medical marihuana,  it is very funny for me because the main character, it is called Ruth, just like me.

My ideal future job

Hi everyone!

Today I will talk about my ideal future job. Sometimes I think about this and I have one crazy idea, but I love it.

When I finish the university, I would like to go to live to California, USA. I want to go to this place because I want to learn to speak english and practice with native people, and I would like to work in a weed garden. In california, growing, using and consuming is legal. I love it because I think marihuana is not bad for the people. This plant has many medicinal properties for different illnesses, for example epilepsy, anxiety and depression.

I would work and live there because I want learn about it (medicinal properties) and growing techniques, kind of cannabis and its properties.  also I want to learn english. 

I would like live there 1 or 2 years. After that, I would want to return to Chile so I can do other things. Really I dont have ONE ideal future job, because also I like geography, and I also like working in this. Geography is so broad and you can work in different kinds of jobs. Only I know, I want to work in a friendy job, with a salary that I can use to live calmly.
